Tina Louise

Tina Tina Amanda AmandaMaureen performed well in athletics and enjoyed rough, physical games. This interest was combined with a natural talent for performance. She received almost every Feis Award in the field of Drama and Theater Performance the country could provide. At age 14, she had been accepted into the Abbey Theater, where her enthusiasm for classical theatre and operatic music was continued. It was this path that would be altered, however, when Charles Laughton, after seeing a screen test of Maureen fascinated by her stunning eyes. Laughton together with his friend Erich Pommer changed Maureen FitzSimons names to "Maureen O'Hara" which is a slightly smaller name that was used on the marquee, before casting for her role as an actress in Jamaica Inn, (1939). Maureen FitzSimons' second film (The Hunchback of Notre Dame - 1939) was planned to be made in the studio of RKO Pictures in America under agreement with Laughton. Maureen was able to buy her contract with Laughton after the film was an immense success. Maureen was only 19 at the time she was starring alongside Laughton in two movies.
