Maureen Denise McCormick - the youngest of Richard McCormick's sons was born in Woodland Hills, California in the year 1956. Her father worked as an educator at school and her mother as a stay at home mom. There are three brothers older than her: Michael Dennis and Kevin. McCormick was a gifted singer and performer from the age of 6. Her passion was to perform shows using puppets to entertain her friends. When she won the Baby Miss San Fernando Valley contest when she was just 6 years old, Pat Domigan called from Jack Wormser Agency to see what she thought about getting into the entertainment industry. McCormick had her first significant task when she was cast as a television character in the 1964 commercial of Mattels latest baby doll Baby Pattaburp. The following year she appeared in another commercial for Mattels Chatty Cathy doll and was shortly cast in the musical the play Wind It up and It breaks at the La Jolla Playhouse. The Brady Bunch In 1969 McCormick was chosen from among 1500 children who had auditioned for the role of the oldest of three towheaded girls on the new TV sitcom The Brady Bunch starring Florence Henderson and Robert Reed as newlyweds with a blended family. The show ran for five seasons and The Brady Bunch was an enormous success. McCormick said in her 2008 book Heres the Story : Surviving Marcia Brady & Finding My True Voice that she nearly ended her relationship in the fifth season of the show in the presence of Barry Williams, her co-star as well as her on-screen brother. She was just 16 at the time and he was just 19. It could have been, she says. The timing for our marriage wasn't right.
